1. Before painting restoration. Paint loss obliterates an area of the painting.

2. During painting restoration (detail). After flattening the canvas, a new chalk filling replaced the missing ground layer, and the yellowed varnish was removed.

3. After painting restoration. After reconstructive retouching of the damaged area, the painting was revarnished.
